The Sodalitas Center for Adult Education is on a small elevation in the center of Tainach/ Tinje, a small village with a population of approx. 650.

Tainach/Tinje is located 20 kilometer east of Klagenfurt /Celovec, the provincial capital of Carinthia /Koroska, and is politically part of the urban community of Völkermarkt / Velikovec. It is easily reached by car taking the Autobahn A2 and by train (station Tainach-Stein). The outline of Tainach is dominated by the Propstei farmstead right next to the Center on the side of the Tainach Mountain and by the gothic church with its steeple visible from afar.

The village and parish of Tainach / Tinje were first mentioned in documents in the 12th century. In the 17th and 18th centuries the parish was the seat of the arch-deacon

To the north Tainach / Tinje is surrounded by the woods of the Tainach Mountain, to the south the view of the Karawanken mountain range and the Steiner Alps opens over fields and meadows. The Drau, the main river of Carinthia, flows just 2 kilometers south of Tainach / Tinje.
