The body responsible for this Catholic adult education center is the priests’ organization “Sodalitas, the organization of the Slovene-speaking preists of the Gurk-Klagenfurt diocese that was founded in 1906 by Dr. Lambert Ehrlich.
In the history of the Slovenian ethnic group in Carinthia the priests of Sodalitas have played an important role. In the 19th century, the Slovenian priests were often active on social areas other than their pastoral work. They were not seldom the founders of credit unions, agricultural cooperatives, cultural organizations and choirs, founders of newspapers, publishing houses and schools and were even active in politics.
Especially in the winter months the priests of Sodalitas organized educational courses for rural youth in the Gail valley as well as in Rosental and Jauntal valleys of southern Carinthia, which included, above all, days for meditation and religious retreat.
