The Catholic Adult Education Center “Sodalitas” is an establishment of the priests’ organizaion „Sodalitas“ whose members are the Slovenian priests of the Gurk-Klagenfurt diocese. This Center is open to everyone interested in education and searching for orientation and meaning in life. It is especially oriented to people who have completed their basic schooling and professional education. The Center sees itself as part of general adult education. Its program tries to be directed to the individual needs of people in a continually changing society and includes the managing of daily life together, the changing to new life relationships and the procuring of the abilities and knowledge necessary for managing our own existence.

The Center “Sodalitas” is especially geared to the needs of the members of the Slovene ethnic group in Carinthia, and with the help of educational courses and seminars in the Slovene language contributes to keeping the Slovene language and identity alive in Carinthia.

The Center “Sodalitas” perceives itself as a center for dialogue and a meeting of the Slovenian and German language ethnic groups in Carinthia. Through specially targeted educational events and seminars it hopes to improve the contact and community life of both groups. In addition, Sodalitas tries to initiate cross-border activities to contribute to the strengthening of the Alps-Adriatic region and the common house of Europe.

Furthermore, Sodalitas is a house of the arts. This self-perception is expressed in the Gallery Tainach. Works of over forty national and international artists are on permanent exhibit in the Center, which also offers 2 additional galleries to artists for exhibits.
