A religious retreat course took place in the Propsteihof in Tainach in 1929. In 1954 the farmers educational centre of Tainach was founded. This offered agricultural courses for young farmers in the winter months. On the intiation of Prelate Dr. Rudolf Blueml and with the financial inheritance of Fr. Alojzij Kuhar, the priests of Sodalitas built their own retreat and educational center next to the Propstei farmstead. This was opened in 1961. In the meantime the building was enlarged and remodeled in 1981 and 1994. The Catholic Adult Educational Center is a member of the Organization of Educational Centers of Austria, founded in 1954.
The demand for educational courses has increased from year to year since its beginnings and the offerings of the education center have been steadily expanding to meet the demand. Today the program offers a rich variety of courses and seminars in additional to the traditional days of religious exercises and retreats. The Gallery Tainach has been in operation for over 20 years. Today the Catholic Adult Educational Center “Sodalitas” is an important educational establishment, and a center for seminars and meetings. With the program offerings the Center attempts to fulfill the mission of the founder and at the same time take up new challenges.
